operation sales aficionado

so, I love online shopping!
I loooove it.
Unfortunately 99% of items that end up in my cart, never make it to check out.
I have missed out on so many amazing sales and items that I would love to call my own, because I just can't seem to commit to the buy.
I also only have a debit card, so unless I transfer money over, I never make the purchase.

To stop myself from turning into an online shopping addict, I am giving myself a budget of $50 a fortnight to spend on something fabulous that I really want (and hear me out here) INSTEAD of buying something I stumble across at my local shopping centre that I might not particular love, but y'know it's there in front of me... I really am lazy.

However, these days there is a super competitive market for cheap online clothing retailers with FREE shipping. I definitely don't want to turn into one of those (only shops online) people either and for outfits I know I need I will still be hitting up my favourite stores in person. For two reasons; the first is to keep the retail industry alive and the second is, I don't trust freight companies as far as I can throw them (as in, at all).

So without further ado, here is my current updated list of websites and my favourite online buys:

We Love Fine
lemongrab: you made me // lemongrab: unacceptable // deadpool: little yellow boxes // wall.e: pixels // deadpool: this guy // cake: sweet babies //

note: I am trying to AVOID WeLoveFine because they have a gazillion tees that I want.... I am scared for my bank account to go on the website lol

LazyOaf
aliens baseball tee ($73) // watermelon shorts ($89) // watermelon backpack ($78) // pizza beanbag ($114) // pizza ring ($57) // freak earring pack ($29) // cat socks ($13) // pizza necklace ($22)

I love LazyOaf, they have my their finger permanently on my style buzzer, unfortunately the conversion between British Pounds and the Aussie Dollar makes buying things a bit um, expensive.
I really can't afford to splash out $114 on a bean bag cover OR $78 on a backpack or $57 on a single ring... Alas, I can only dream...

More to come :)

follow me on bloglovin

check out the official link (woohoo) ^^^

I haven't really put my blog out there, I'm still hoping to twerk it up, get my shiz together in terms of photo posting/editing & I would love to have some stuff scheduled. I'm just not there yet, but I'm hoping by the end of the month I will be. *fingers crossed* I love blogging writing and I love photos and there are so many blogs out there that just endlessly inspire me.

I have only just started commenting & I'm hoping to become less of a creeper, because I swear I'm not weird in a bad way! Eeek.

Anyway, even if I am the only person in the world reading it, I still want to put lots of effort into my blog.
Wish me luck invisible readers *cricket cricket*

I Heart Deadpool

My mother always told me that I have an "obsessive personality" which meant two things to me, one: I was never allowed to do hard drugs and two: I have always been a massive fangirl
I'm talking many phases growing up: Hot Wheels, Marvin the Martian, Mr. Bump and even animals such as ducks, cats and the humble platypus. I'm not going to give you my list, because I'm sure I will blog about all of my obsessions at one point or another. Today I am talking about my favourite Merc with a Mouth.

Deadpool is my one true comic book love, the character who really dragged my ass back to the comic book world three years ago. My second comic book love is Catwoman (obviously) - anyway, back to Wade Wilson <3. Just look at him...

Not only is he the biggest smart-mouth/shit-talking/bad-ass/immortal mercenary in the Marvel Universe but his backstory isn't exactly a pretty one (cancer + failed experiment) but let's face it, he definitely made the most of a bad thing and is the taco-loving, gun-weilding sociopath we know and love today! :D

Oh, did I mention this month his game is released (26th June for Australia) and I can't wait!!!!!
Deadpool made his on screen debut in X Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009 and I don't want to get into a long rant about his character portrayal but let's just leave it at, I found it disappointing.
I love Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, I just hate that they took away his mouth which is his main asset! Seriously people!

There are still updates on the spin off X Men Origins: Deadpool film *fingers crossed* and I have a feeling it will rely soley on the popularity of this new game. As a whole though, he has gotten a million times more popular in the recent years, everyone is jumping on the Deadpool bandwagon which is a double edges sword for a fangirl. 1) The secret satisfaction of loving something that few people know about vs 2) The fanbase demanding more things (more comics, clothing, collectibles, games, movies) - meaning more things for you to fangirl about, but on a bad day, man do I wish I had him all to myself. Haha.

Okay, enough ranting, I'm sure you get by now that I HEART DEAPOOL, so here is my list of current collectable gems that the Deadpool fanbase demand is popping out (I can't stay mad at them really, they obviously have good taste :P)

Case Point: welovefine has a massive selection of Deadpool tees, but I've just picked my favs

wa day long weekend

Wow, what a weekend!

On Friday night a handful of my best friends and I went to support NHPW (read: wrestling) and it's alway such a blast.
I'm afraid we may be those people who chant obnoxiously loud, we like to call it "team spirit"
Of course, seeing Colt Cabana again was great, he is super nice and I think he's kinda cute.
Also, watching Awesome Kong run through two grown men was definitely entertaining.

After the wrestling finished, we went to the local pub to bid farewell to a friend of ours who is going to off to travel Europe for eight months, so naturally, I hate and love him.
Saturday was spent napping and searching for a dress big enough to fit my 6"9 boyfriend and unsurprisingly I had no luck. I did however have ice cream with sherbet (which I have been craving for almost six months prior - so satisfying).

Saturday night I dressed up as a magician for my friend's carnival/circus theme 21st birthday party.
It was amazing! I'm talking popcorn machine, fairy floss machine, slushy machine, karaoke machine... seriously, it was crazy!
I saw a few people I hadn't seen since I graduated high school (isn't it the most awkward thing? I hate talking about myself: "Oh so you've been working full time for the last 3 years and have nothing to show for it? That's cool". Blergh) but I still had a few of my nearest and dearest to share the night with so all in all it was great.

some of my fav friends: lee, siobhan, campbell & adam

Sunday night my best friends and I went to 'State of the Art' music festival where I got to see three of my favourite Perth bands live; The Love Junkies, The Chemist and of course, Karnivool.
We had fantastic seats for Karnivool and the sound and lighting was amazing!
It was the fifth time I've seen them live but the first time in a seated venue.

the view from our amazing seats
Monday I spent with my boyfriend and his family in Rockingham for a BBQ lunch, the weather was hot and freezing depending on the cloud coverage which was pretty frustrating and I loved my outfit but my white shirt got dirty before I had the chance to take pictures.

it was a beautiful day for a BBQ

Oh well, I got a nice snap of the foreshore and being out in the sun reminded me how much I love relaxing and reading out in the fresh air and sunshine! Pity I made that revelation at the start of winter. Sigh.

One home I enjoyed a relaxing afternoon excluding my workout (yes I JFDI for once) and I had the chance to read some magazines and paint my nails! So an allround great weekend!
I hope yours was just as incredible!

iphone 5

so, I have had an iphone 4 for just over 2 years now & I've decided to bite the bullets & finally take the plunge with the iphone 5 - it will also save me $8 a month

I was so torn between leaving the world of iPhone behind & investing in the new Samsung Galaxy S4
But I am just so used to my iphone now, I would have to invest in an iPad mini so all those purchased apps wouldn't be redundant. Also, my mum will get my phone hand-me-down, which is a nice birthday/mother's day surprise for her.

The main reason I wanted a SGS4 was the camera. I am investing the idea of buying myself a brand new DSLR camera for my 21st birthday later this year (though now I'm leaning towards a Sony - whoop exciting) anyway so I figured, what's the point.

So here I am, browsing the interweb for cute iPhone 5 cases, because you know what they say, it's all about how you wear it ;) I want one for every colour of the rainbow!!! (& for every outfit)

I am probably going to re-invest in an R2D2 phone case and say goodbye to my iphone 4 one :( baww

end of the month book club

So, I may or may not have blogged about how I wanted to join some book clubs!?
Online book clubs that is. I clicked on some groups on facebook, sent out a few emails and... NADA
Apparently no one wants to include a little old reignited book worm from Perth in their book-reading adventures... so I say screw it. I will make my own.

Not super literally, I will just read whatever I want, so since I only started reading again (I got two in (hey - not bad) lol

Here we go.

We Need To Talk About Kevin - Lionel Shriver

Can I just say... wow. What an emotional ride. It made me not want to have kids (not really but kinda) but it was just so powerful and moving. The main protagonist, Eva, retells the story of her life, marriage and family through letters to her husband, Franklin. This may not sound very exceptional except throughout these letters she reveals an honest and emotionally charged account of her struggles with her first-born child, Kevin and her seemingly lack of mothering instincts and emotions. Oh, did I mention that Kevin is a socialpath and is responsible for a high school massacre? Don't worry, that isn't a spoiler, it's even on the blurb :)
Her letters deal with life after the massacre, visits to Kevin at his prison and her life leading up to "Thursday" and the tatters of her life which remain after.

I loved it. It took me a long time to read, sometimes I would literally read to myself out loud in order to grasp the structure and sentences better, they are a tinsy-bit too descriptive for my liking but they wonderfully written. I haven't seen the movie yet but it is on my to do list!

Lucky - Alice Sebold

It seem's like I've had a depressing few weeks since the next book I picked up was a memoir based around the rape of Alice Sebold (author of The Lovely Bones) when she was in college and her fight to bring her assailant to justice. I enjoy Sebold's writing, I really loved the Lovely Bones and just like this one, I read it in one sitting. It is such an honest account of such a horrific situation and her struggle and strength going forward with her life and battling the mind field of relationships afterwards is truly remarkable. They say when big events happen, it's like putting a bookmark in your life that splits it into "Before" and "After" and I think this book really proves that theory. It didn't make it onto my favourite's list but it's still worth a read. If only to have an honest look into the mind of someone who has overcome their darkest days and made it out alive.

That's it for now. I have a few more ripe and ready to get into for May.

Is anyone out there doing some reading as well?

sunday: weekend diary

wow, what a weekend, firstly because it was extra long weekend (Thu-Sun)
oh & also ANZAC Day

if you are keen (& even if you aren't, I'm going to give you a play-by-play)

WEDNESDAY
Night
I'm adding this into my weekend as it technically was the start of it and more to the point, I actually did something with it.
I went out to the casino (Perth only has one) with a large group of friends.
It was awesome to have so many of us together, it was a bit shocking to realise how rare these occasions were. We all had cocktails and dinner at Junction Grill.
I have to admit, I filled up on cocktails and my delicious salad was wasted on me. :(
I went home with my best friend Dave where we proceeded to laze off our food or uh, cocktail bellies re-watching the first season of Adventure Time.

THURSDAY
ANZAC Day
I watched the dawn service from the comfort of my bedroom (I know, very unpatriotic) but when I did get up, I made ANZAC cookies - all by myself!
Wow, I sound like a child and even though I enjoy cooking / baking. I still have this looming feeling like I completely suck at it. Sometimes I get all anxious if I have used a lot of ingredients / food because if I screw up the recipe - I'll be wasting food, time and money.
Anyway, the cookies turned out okay, not great, but definitely edible.
I went op shopping with my mum during the day and picked up some books (don't I always).
Thursday night I took a short road trip with my best friend Amy and my old friend Ross. It turned out to be quite an eventful (and uneventful) night.
The whole point of the journey was to go star gazing in York (about an hour out of Perth) but alas the skies were not on our side & decided to mask itself in cloud... oh also it was a full moon (one hand: awesome, other hand: no stars whatsoever)
We drove back to Perth via Amy's house in the hills, then down to mine... where I discovered I didn't have my keys on me. Awkward.
Had to call my mum's work & we drove 25 mins to pick up the key, then back to mine, where we all had a shot of whisky & then fell asleep to The Butterfly Effect (the film, not the band - both are awesome though :P)

FRIDAY
A well deserved sleep in with Amy. Who then promptly discovered her car was not starting.
Major bummer. Luckily her father works in the same suburb and swung by to collect her when he finished work. Dave came over after he had finished work and we did some shopping and lazed about - which is pretty much all we do. He left me to my own devices - aka. finishing "We Need To Talk About Kevin" (the book, not the movie - will talk more about that tomorrow) & listening to Pink Floyd.

SATURDAY
Rob, the boyfriend, came over to take me to Nexus Fair (a quarterly toy & collectors fair which we always go to) - I love it. It can always drain my bank account.
This time, I got a big bargain (in my eyes).
I love Pokemon. A lot.
My favourite Pokemon are Poliwhirl, Skitty, Caterpie & you know what I'm going to stop here.
Anyway, I've been toying with buying a decent size (hugable size) Poliwhirl plush for a long time.
On ebay (pretty much the only place to find them) they can go from $18-45 PLUS postage.
I picked up one from Nexus for $5.
Five dollars! I almost had a fit when I saw him. As soon as I saw it, Rob knew. He told me to calm myself but my penchant for getting crazy excited for things that don't necessarily deserve such a high level excitement is widely known amongst my social circles.
I care not. I picked up my Poliwhirl on the cheap and two more baby Poliwhirls (one was an ex-Hungry Jack/Burger King toy & converts from a Poliwag into a Poliwhirl and the other is identical to the one I had as a little girl - I believe it used to have candy in it's little velcro pouch on the back - both picked up for $2 ea)
I already have one that converts from Pokeball to Poliwhirl. I just couldn't believe my luck.
I also picked up some Hotwheels cars (Red Baron - one from my childhood) and some Catwoman comics.

After Nexus we picked up my mum and we all drove to IKEA (that place is a real drain on the bank account - but I decided to be good and only buy some DVD Boxes & Magazine Holders)
I still have to buy a bunch of furniture - might make another trip this weekend.
My mum bought a big ass TV Unit for our pending new TV
I was then whisked up to the hills so Rob and our friend Lee could have a music jam.
I sat on the couch and read "Lucky" by Alice Sebold (again  more on this tomorrow)

Rob and I left to go back to his house where we cuddled up to watch "Zombieland" for the millionth time.
It's still such an enjoyable movie.
We eventually went back to mine, where he dropped me off and went to the city to meet with some of his muso friends. Leaving me to my own devices, it wasn't long before he came back just to put me to bed.

SUNDAY
I woke up and my head had switched back to fitness mode.
Maybe it was the internet (it really is my #1 motivator) or maybe I had (just maybe) simply gotten tired of saying "I'll start again tomorrow"
I suppose you wouldn't know that as of July last year I went through a major health kick.
Unfortunately, over the last few months, I've had a relapse (5kg of relapse actually)
But not any more.
With a combination of Tumblr, blogs, recipes and my favourite part (monthly challenges from Blogilates)
I feel like a newly rebirthed fitness baby.
I'm ready to rock and roll.
Sunday I did a big work out (one of Michelle Bridge's cardio DVDs) and I made good dietry decisions all day (minus probably the 3 little choc eggs & hazelnut coffee - hey a girl can treat herself) :P
Oh, and I researched a whole bunch of easy peasy breakfast recipes.
I'm going to do the same with lunch & dinner & literally stick them on the fridge.
No excuses!

ONLINE FIND:

Also: I just found all these cute tees from urban outfitters
I swear I might have to fork out for a couple of them.
They are just too cute. Check out the Lisa Frank kitten tank - I might have to snap that up before it goes out of stock - I just know that it will

kitty swirl muscle tee // keep it surreal muscle tee // led zeppelin tee // smiley face muscle tee // yin-yang muscle tee // lisa frank kitten tank //

I think I'm revisiting me weird retro hippie phase.
I don't even mind. :)
It does however make me want to drop acid in the 70's - oh, how times have changed.

Peace out lovers xox
