wow, what a weekend, firstly because it was extra long weekend (Thu-Sun)
oh & also ANZAC Day
if you are keen (& even if you aren't, I'm going to give you a play-by-play)
WEDNESDAY
Night
I'm adding this into my weekend as it technically was the start of it and more to the point, I actually did something with it.
I went out to the casino (Perth only has one) with a large group of friends.
It was awesome to have so many of us together, it was a bit shocking to realise how rare these occasions were. We all had cocktails and dinner at Junction Grill.
I have to admit, I filled up on cocktails and my delicious salad was wasted on me. :(
I went home with my best friend Dave where we proceeded to laze off our food or uh, cocktail bellies re-watching the first season of Adventure Time.
THURSDAY
ANZAC Day
I watched the dawn service from the comfort of my bedroom (I know, very unpatriotic) but when I did get up, I made ANZAC cookies -
all by myself!
Wow, I sound like a child and even though I enjoy cooking / baking. I still have this looming feeling like I completely suck at it. Sometimes I get all anxious if I have used a lot of ingredients / food because if I screw up the recipe - I'll be wasting food, time
and money.
Anyway, the cookies turned out okay, not great, but definitely edible.
I went op shopping with my mum during the day and picked up some books (don't I always).
Thursday night I took a short road trip with my best friend Amy and my old friend Ross. It turned out to be quite an eventful (and uneventful) night.
The whole point of the journey was to go star gazing in York (about an hour out of Perth) but alas the skies were not on our side & decided to mask itself in cloud... oh also it was a full moon (one hand: awesome, other hand: no stars whatsoever)
We drove back to Perth via Amy's house in the hills, then down to mine... where I discovered I didn't have my keys on me. Awkward.
Had to call my mum's work & we drove 25 mins to pick up the key, then back to mine, where we all had a shot of whisky & then fell asleep to The Butterfly Effect (the film, not the band - both are awesome though :P)
FRIDAY
A well deserved sleep in with Amy. Who then promptly discovered her car was not starting.
Major bummer. Luckily her father works in the same suburb and swung by to collect her when he finished work. Dave came over after he had finished work and we did some shopping and lazed about - which is pretty much all we do. He left me to my own devices - aka. finishing "We Need To Talk About Kevin" (the book, not the movie - will talk more about that tomorrow) & listening to Pink Floyd.
SATURDAY
Rob, the boyfriend, came over to take me to Nexus Fair (a quarterly toy & collectors fair which we always go to) - I love it. It can always drain my bank account.
This time, I got a big bargain (in my eyes).
I love Pokemon. A lot.
My favourite Pokemon are Poliwhirl, Skitty, Caterpie & you know what I'm going to stop here.
Anyway, I've been toying with buying a decent size (hugable size) Poliwhirl plush for a long time.
On ebay (pretty much the only place to find them) they can go from $18-45 PLUS postage.
I picked up one from Nexus for $5.
Five dollars! I almost had a fit when I saw him. As soon as I saw it, Rob knew. He told me to calm myself but my penchant for getting crazy excited for things that don't necessarily deserve such a high level excitement is widely known amongst my social circles.
I care not. I picked up my Poliwhirl on the cheap and two more baby Poliwhirls (one was an ex-Hungry Jack/Burger King toy & converts from a Poliwag into a Poliwhirl and the other is identical to the one I had as a little girl - I believe it used to have candy in it's little velcro pouch on the back - both picked up for $2 ea)
I already have one that converts from Pokeball to Poliwhirl. I just couldn't believe my luck.
I also picked up some Hotwheels cars (Red Baron - one from my childhood) and some Catwoman comics.
After Nexus we picked up my mum and we all drove to IKEA (that place is a real drain on the bank account - but I decided to be good and only buy some DVD Boxes & Magazine Holders)
I still have to buy a bunch of furniture - might make another trip this weekend.
My mum bought a big ass TV Unit for our pending new TV
I was then whisked up to the hills so Rob and our friend Lee could have a music jam.
I sat on the couch and read "Lucky" by Alice Sebold (again more on this tomorrow)
Rob and I left to go back to his house where we cuddled up to watch "Zombieland" for the millionth time.
It's still such an enjoyable movie.
We eventually went back to mine, where he dropped me off and went to the city to meet with some of his muso friends. Leaving me to my own devices, it wasn't long before he came back just to put me to bed.
SUNDAY
I woke up and my head had switched back to fitness mode.
Maybe it was the internet (it really is my #1 motivator) or maybe I had (just maybe) simply gotten tired of saying "I'll start again tomorrow"
I suppose you wouldn't know that as of July last year I went through a major health kick.
Unfortunately, over the last few months, I've had a relapse (5kg of relapse actually)
But not any more.
With a combination of Tumblr, blogs, recipes and my favourite part (monthly challenges from Blogilates)
I feel like a newly rebirthed fitness baby.
I'm ready to rock and roll.
Sunday I did a big work out (one of Michelle Bridge's cardio DVDs) and I made good dietry decisions all day (minus probably the 3 little choc eggs & hazelnut coffee - hey a girl can treat herself) :P
Oh, and I researched a whole bunch of easy peasy breakfast recipes.
I'm going to do the same with lunch & dinner & literally stick them on the fridge.
No excuses!

Also: I just found all these cute tees from urban outfitters
I swear I might have to fork out for a couple of them.
They are just too cute. Check out the Lisa Frank kitten tank - I might have to snap that up before it goes out of stock - I just know that it will

even mind. :)
It does however make me want to drop acid in the 70's - oh, how times have changed.
Peace out lovers xox
